On 5 July 2025, Singapore Silent Heroes proudly hosted the Singapore Silent Heroes Students Awards 2025 at the Spring Singapore Auditorium, bringing together over 330 guests in a meaningful celebration of youth volunteerism and quiet leadership. Organised in collaboration with the Civilians Association Singapore, the event reflected SSH’s core mission of recognising everyday heroes who serve others selflessly and inspire positive change within their communities.

The afternoon ceremony, held from 1pm to 5pm, was supported by a dedicated team of 22 volunteers, comprising SSH Awards Committee members, CAS Council Members, SSH alumni and volunteers. Their collective efforts ensured the smooth execution of an event centred on appreciation, inclusion and social impact.

The programme began with guest arrival and registration, setting the tone for an uplifting afternoon. The opening performance featured Hero, beautifully sung by Gemma Angela Fernandez, a 2017 Singapore Silent Heroes award recipient in the Outstanding Adult category and a Senior Lecturer at Republic Polytechnic. Her performance was a reminder that service transcends age and that role models often walk quietly among us.

Two young awardees, Sze En from Tao Nan School and Nur Haziqah from Qihua Primary School, were later invited on stage to share their personal journeys of service. Their stories illustrated how compassion, when nurtured early, can ripple across schools and neighbourhoods. Speeches by Mr MP Sellvem and Guest of Honour MOS Ms Jasmin Lau further reinforced the importance of building a caring society through youth engagement and volunteerism.

The awards presentation honoured primary, secondary and junior college students, culminating in a total of 84 awards presented across 37 schools. A second performance of He Ain’t Heavy He’s My Brother by Gemma Angela Fernandez added emotional depth to the ceremony, echoing the spirit of solidarity that SSH stands for. As one message resonated strongly throughout the event,

True heroes are those who uplift others without seeking recognition.

Supported by sponsors including Singapore Pools, Prudential, Sian Chay, AIA FA and The Silent Foundation, and with Redhill as the Official PR and Communications Partner, the event concluded with a group photo, refreshments and networking.

The outcome was clear. Awareness of the SSH movement continues to grow within student communities, participation has increased year on year, and young changemakers were affirmed for igniting compassion in the next generation. Through initiatives like this, Singapore Silent Heroes remains committed to shaping a kinder, more inclusive society by empowering youths to lead with heart.
