Jenny Wong Hien Far
Pioneer of Promise Winner – 2024
Nominated by:
Nurulhuda Subahan, National Library Board Volunteer Manager

Singapore Silent Heroes chose Jenny for her unwavering dedication and selfless service. Since 2020, Jenny has been a beacon of hope and support at the National Library Board (NLB), tirelessly volunteering across various Public Library branches. Her commitment is nothing short of extraordinary, with a staggering 1,243 hours of service in FY2022 alone, earning her the title of NLB’s top contributing volunteer.

Jenny’s versatility and deep understanding of NLB’s diverse range of products and services
have made her an invaluable asset. She has played a pivotal role in NLB’s signature
initiatives, such as the Tech Bazaar, an annual event aimed at promoting digital literacy
among seniors.

Her contributions extend beyond just participation; she has been a mentor to other volunteers, guiding them at the volunteer-run spaces in Choa Chu Kang Public Library during its re-opening in 2021. Her efforts in supporting collection maintenance at various libraries have ensured that these community hubs remain vibrant and welcoming.

But Jenny’s altruism doesn’t stop at the library doors. She extends her compassion to Ng Teng Fong General Hospital, where she assists in fetching patients from wards for various activities, bringing a touch of warmth and care to those in need.

Jenny’s story is one of relentless dedication and a heart full of generosity. Her actions remind us that true kindness knows no bounds and that one person’s efforts can indeed make a world of difference. Through her selfless service, Jenny has not only enriched the lives of countless individuals but has also inspired a community to come together and support one another. Her journey is a beautiful reminder of the impact we can all have when we choose to give back.
