The 12th Singapore Silent Heroes Awards 2025 celebrated ordinary individuals making extraordinary contributions to society.

Organised by the Civilians Association (Singapore) and the Singapore Silent Heroes Movement, the ceremony took place on Sept 27 with Minister Indranee Rajah as guest of honour.

Winners were honoured across five categories such as Heart of Humanity, Inspiring Youth, Outstanding Adult, Pioneer of Promise, and Compassionate Foreigner.

Among the finalists was Mr Subash Saminathan, 51, recognised in the Outstanding Adult Award category.

Inspired by his father’s generosity, Mr Subash began volunteering at 16. Today, he offers food aid, emotional support, and free legal guidance on wills, lasting power of attorney, probate, and divorces for those in need.

“It’s not for praise or pay – it’s the right thing to do,” he said, adding he will continue his service lifelong.

In the Inspiring Youth category, Mr Selva Raju, 33, turned personal loss into purpose. Orphaned as a teenager, he has now dedicated over a decade to empowering youth with special needs.

“I want them to participate, rather than just receive,” he said, emphasising inclusion through independence.

Mr Elumalai Sarath Kumar, 29, finalist for the Compassionate Foreigner Award, volunteers at Casa Raudha, helping men and children through therapy sessions.

“This country has given me a good life. It’s only right to give back,” he shared.

Young performer Mackenzia Gabriella, 11, born with visual impairment and deafness, inspires through music. Singing since age five, she raises funds for charities and motivates other children with special needs.

“The loud cheers push me to learn more despite my hearing limitations,” she said.

Launched in 2014, the Singapore Silent Heroes Awards honour Singaporeans, Permanent Residents, and foreigners whose selfless acts of kindness and compassion strengthen the nation’s social fabric – proving that everyday heroes walk quietly among us.
