There are a total of 5 award categories for this year’s Singapore Silent Heroes 2025 – The 11th Edition. They are: Heart of Humanity, Pioneer of Promise, Outstanding AdultInspiring Youth and Compassionate Foreigner Please read the criteria for each category carefully before nominating anyone for the Singapore Silent Heroes Awards.

Category details

Heart of Humanity

This Award recognises:
An individual who has disabilities but yet, overcame adversity and achieved success in life, demonstrated exemplary service to the community and has made a positive impact in the lives of others.

Disability(ies) may include cognitive, developmental, intellectual, mental, physical, sensory or a combination of these that impaired an individual’s everyday life activities.

• Nominee has a form of disability
• Provide example(s) on how the individual has overcome adversity, achieved success or has made a positive impact
• In the case where positive impact has made on an individual, a testimonial from this individual would be encouraged
• Any testimonials or references in support of the nomination will be useful.

Pioneer Of Promise

This Award recognises
A Singapore Pioneer who has positively contributed to the community and nation building efforts. These may include raising awareness on social, health or environmental issues, promoting cultural harmony, or helping in the advancement of individuals.

– Aged above 66 years at the time of nomination
– Cite example(s) to support the contributions made by the Singapore Pioneer
– Any testimonials or references in support of the nomination will be useful.

Outstanding Adult

This Award recognises
Individuals who have been exemplary in being role models, doing good deeds, demonstrating selfless service to the community, providing support and/or guidance to others.

Aged 36 and 65 years at the time of the nomination.
– Provide example(s) to support how the nominee has earned the respect of their peers, and made a positive impact on others.
– Any testimonials or references in support of the nomination will be useful.

Inspiring Youth

This Award recognises
Inspiring young individuals who have been a role model and inspiration to others, and have contributed greatlyto the community through regular volunteering.

The nominee must not be over 35 years of age at the time of nomination.
– Demonstrated exemplary qualities and traits such as compassion, leadership, entrepreneurship or community spirit
– Has made a significant and positive impact in the lives of other and to the community.
– Any testimonials or references in support of the nomination will be useful.

Compassionate Foreigner

This Award recognises
Any foreigner who is working or staying in Singapore and has contributed to our nation and its people with acts of kindness to make a positive difference to individuals and to the wider community, beyond his/her normal expected call of duty.

– The effort he/she put forth should not be part of routine work or official responsibilities.
– Provide example(s) of the contributions that the individual has done or help extended to any individuals, organisation or community at large.
– Any testimonials or references in support of nomination will be useful.
– Record of good standing in Singapore (ie; not convicted of any violation under any laws of Singapore or any other country.

FAQs

Can I nominate more than 1 person in each category and nominate the same person in multiple categories?

Yes, you can.

Is there any age criteria for the various categories?

Yes, for the “Outstanding Adult”, “Inspiring Youth” and “Pioneer of Promise” categories.

Can I nominate myself?

No, self-nomination is not allowed.

Can I nominate someone who does not live in Singapore or is a non-Singaporean?

No; however, for the “Compassionate Foreigner” category, foreigners working and residing in Singapore can be nominated, provided that their deeds are carried out within Singapore.

Can I attach photos, links and other supporting documents for the nominee?
Yes, and we encourage you to do so.
Is there any nomination fee to be paid?
No, there is no fee or charges to be paid, Nomination is absolutely FREE!
Does the award come with a cash prize?

Winners will not receive any cash prize. However, SSH may choose to support some of the activities by our SSH Alumni.

Will there be reference checks done by the nomination committee?
Yes, the committee will make the necessary reference checks.
Is the award restricted to any group of people?

No. Anyone regardless, of gender, ability, race, language, religion can be nominated.
However, age restriction applies to the “Outstanding Adult”, “Inspiring Youth”, and “Pioneer of Promise” categories.

Will there be an acknowledgement of my submission?
Yes, you will receive an automated acknowledgement, once your nomination is successfully submitted.
Can nominations be submitted online only?

Yes, however, if you should face any difficulty with submitting your online nomination, please reach out to our nomination committee by providing your details in the “Contact me” box.

When will winners be announced?
Winners will only be announced on the day of the awards ceremony. However, shortlisted candidates may be notified earlier.
How many winners will be chosen for each category?

The judging panel will determine the number of winners based on merit.

Can someone who has been awarded a SSH award previously be nominated for an award in a different category?

Individuals who have previously won the Singapore Silent Heroes Award or have received other awards for the same act of kindness should not be nominated again, as we aim to celebrate new individuals and their contributions.

By when must a nomination be submitted?

Please submit nomination by 15th June 2024, 23:59hrs
