Alimah Bee Binte Sekinder
Pioneer of Promise Winner – 2025
Nominated by:
Nawwarah Binte Abdul Ghani – Volunteer Manager

After leaving Casa Raudha’s shelter in 2015, Mdm Alimah Bee made a quiet promise to herself:
to give back to the very community that gave her a second chance. She began volunteering in
2016—and for the past nine years, she has never looked back.

Her lived experience as a survivor of domestic violence gives her a rare empathy. She now
walks alongside other survivors, offering not just help, but hope.

Always the First to Step Forward

Since 2016, Mdm Alimah has been a consistent presence at Casa Raudha’s events—from
International Women’s Day and Mother’s Day to Hari Raya celebrations and Volunteer
Appreciation Days. She is often the first to arrive and among the last to leave, quietly taking
charge of hospitality and food arrangements for guests, beneficiaries, and staff.

Her acts may seem small—preparing food and drinks and assisting with clean-up—but they are
carried out with deep care. She ensures every person feels welcomed and seen.

Serving with Heart, Asking for Nothing

Mdm Alimah volunteers not for recognition, but out of gratitude. She often says that Casa
Raudha gave her hope, and now, service gives her purpose. Her contributions are often
individual—taking initiative without being told, filling in wherever needed, and doing it all with
humility.

In November 2024, she was honoured at Casa Raudha’s Volunteer Appreciation Day. But
beyond this, she has received no formal national recognition, making her nomination for the
Singapore Silent Heroes Award all the more fitting.

A Beacon of Hope for Others

For many new beneficiaries, seeing Mdm Alimah gives comfort—proof that healing is possible,
and that giving back can be part of recovery. Her presence builds a sense of familiarity and
strength. Among staff and volunteers, her consistency is a quiet inspiration.

Her legacy is not loud, but lasting: nearly a decade of service, shaped by empathy, grounded in
gratitude, and driven by a desire to pay it forward.

As she puts it simply, “I will always choose Casa Raudha over anything else.”
