Mohammad Abdus Sattar
Compassionate Foreigner Winner – 2025
Nominated by:
Nazmul Khan – Friend

For the past 11 years, Mohammad Abdus Sattar has called Singapore home—not just in where
he lives, but in how he serves. A migrant worker turned community leader, Sattar is deeply
committed to uplifting others, especially fellow migrant workers navigating life far from home.

Working full-time in logistics, Sattar spends his weekends leading digital literacy workshops,
mentoring migrant students at Singapore Management University, and supporting various
training and outreach programs. Over the past year alone, he has led 15 training sessions,
reaching over 1,200 participants, empowering them with essential computer skills and
workplace knowledge.

Empowering Through Education and Safety

Sattar believes that education is empowerment. In January 2025, he led a Computer
Fundamentals Training workshop to bridge the digital divide many migrant workers face. He
also played a central role in organizing a Workplace Safety and Health Training at Sembawang
Recreation Centre, helping his peers identify hazards and foster a safer working environment.

His dedication isn’t just logistical — it’s personal. Sattar mentors participants one-on-one,
ensuring no one gets left behind. His work helps fellow migrants feel more equipped, confident,
and seen.

Serving with Heart and Purpose

Sattar’s compassion extends far beyond education. During Ramadan 2025, he led a team that
packed and distributed over 5,000kg of meat to low-income families, ensuring they had
nourishing meals during the holy month. He also supported beach clean-up efforts, contributing
to environmental causes close to his heart.

Whether he’s organizing training sessions or packing food under the sun, Sattar leads by
example—with humility, reliability, and heart.

Why He Inspires

Sattar understands the challenges migrant workers face—he’s lived them. That’s why he gives
back, with no expectation of reward. To him, volunteering is about building a more inclusive and
compassionate society, where no one is left behind. Through education, advocacy, and service,
he continues to uplift others and inspire a culture of shared responsibility.

In Sattar, we see the quiet strength of a compassionate foreigner—one whose actions remind
us that borders may define where we live, but not how much we can care.
