Sing Wen Ying Kyra
Inspiring Youth Winner – 2025
Nominated by:
Paik Yen Peng – Active volunteer leader

Kyra began volunteering at just seven years old, inspired by her father’s two decades of
community service. What started as tagging along on food deliveries grew into a deep
commitment to serve the underprivileged, the sick, and the environment. At 19, Kyra has
already dedicated more than 238 volunteer hours, touching over 1,100 families—and she’s only
getting started.

Helping Families in Need

Kyra delivers food packs regularly through Food from the Heart and NTUC “Share a Gift”,
reaching needy families with school-going children. She also organizes food donation drives
twice a year, raising around $500 per drive using her own allowance and rallying support from
friends and relatives.

She spearheaded used textbook donation efforts, collecting nearly 100 books for children from
low-income households.

Caring for Kidney Patients

At the National Kidney Foundation (NKF), Kyra serves as a regular befriender to dialysis
patients—many of whom see her as a granddaughter figure. Each visit supports up to 25
patients, providing companionship and emotional relief during treatment.

She also volunteers at NKF events regularly like Chinese New Year, Hari Raya, and Mid-
Autumn celebrations for patients.

Protecting the Environment

Kyra organizes beach clean-ups to promote both eco-consciousness and family volunteering. In
one session at East Coast Park, she rallied nearly 30 volunteers who cleared over 10kg of
trash.

Seeing a gap between waste and need, Kyra recently coordinated the donation of preowned
furniture and appliances from donors to ItsRainingRaincoats, helping migrant workers improve
their living conditions.

Quiet Acts, Lasting Impact

Kyra is also a regular blood donor and helps out at the Singapore Silent Heroes Student Awards
ceremony. Despite her extensive contributions, she has never sought recognition—driven
instead by the joy of helping others and inspiring her peers to give back.
In Kyra’s words, “A simple smile or thank you makes it all worthwhile.”
