Lim Shi Yun
Inspiring Youth Winner – 2024
Nominated by:
Ng Chai Eng Diana, Staff of Youth Corps

Singapore Silent Heroes have chosen for her unwavering dedication to uplifting the lives of
seniors. As a Volunteer Befriender for YOLDEN Switch @ Moral Home Round 6 in 2022,
Lim Shi Yun planned and led weekly theme-based exercises for seniors via Zoom. Her leadership
continued as an EXCO member of YOLDEN @ Moral Home from 2023 to the present, where
she meticulously planned weekly activities and volunteer training sessions, including
engaging quizzes on Singapore’s eldercare landscape and ageing simulations.

In 2014, Lim Shi Yun embarked on a path of service by joining the pioneer batch of Youth Corps
Leaders Programme aspirants at Youth Corps Singapore. Her commitment to making a
positive impact on the community has been unwavering, particularly in her efforts to
support older adults. Through her involvement in various programmes, Lim Shi Yun has
dedicated her time and skills to causes close to her heart.

Lim Shi Yun’s journey is marked by her significant contributions to programme planning and
execution, volunteer training and management, and befriending beneficiaries. Her work
with the YOLDEN programme stands out, where she has played a pivotal role in enhancing
the physical, intellectual, and social-emotional wellness of seniors.

Lim Shi Yun’s dedication extends to the Engaging Youths, Empowering Seniors (EYES) programme, where she has forged intergenerational bonds with seniors at risk of social isolation. Starting as a Volunteer Befriender in 2016, she connected with a senior couple in their 70s, teaching them how to take photos using a tablet.

Her leadership blossomed as an EXCO member from 2017 to 2020, where she curated and executed programmes, managed volunteers, and conducted training and debrief sessions.

Lim Shi Yun’s story is a powerful reminder of the impact one person can have through acts of kindness and selflessness. Her unwavering dedication to the well-being of seniors and her ability to inspire and lead volunteers make her a beacon of hope and compassion in our community.
