At 26 years old, Hosen Sakib has channeled his technical background into grassroots
community service to protect and uplift vulnerable populations in Singapore. Serving as a
team leader, translator, health counselor, and screener with “Team Wandering Dervishes”
since 2023, he has traveled through 26 migrant worker dormitories and helped screen
workers.

Through these screenings, he has successfully unearned and addressed hundreds
of undiagnosed cases of diabetes and high blood pressure, saving peers from slow,
preventable health crises. He has also partnered with the Central Narcotics Board and
Dadah Itu Haram since 2025 to spread drug awareness and act as a crucial community
firebreak.

Serving with Heart and Purpose

Sakib utilizes his technical background to teach English, AutoCAD, technical drafting, and
basic computer operations to workers who cannot afford formal courses. He co-founded
& “In This Together” in 2020, a volunteer platform connecting migrant and local communities
through a shared support network. His community-building efforts extend to international
causes, such as promoting fundraising campaigns with Humanity Matters for monsoon-
affected families in South Asia in 2024.

Why He Inspires

Coming from a low-income family in Bangladesh, Sakib experienced early hardships that
shaped his deep empathy for those lacking adequate support systems. Believing firmly that
a team can build something lasting, he takes on leadership roles to ensure long-term
support for vulnerable groups. Through health advocacy, technical education, and cross-
community integration, Sakib proves that compassion knows no borders.
