Mary Low
Heart of Humanity Winner – 2023
Nominated by:
Tan Chor Lim – Mary’s former teacher from Cerebral Palsy of Alliance (CPAS) School
Elim Chew – Mentor, Founder, 77th Street

Born with cerebral palsy, Mary Low did not let this stop her from living life to the full and in giving back to the society, especially to the disability community as she fully understands what they are going through.

She was a student at CPAS from 1988-1999. Despite the challenges she faced due to her circumstances, Mary overcame all odds and with her sheer determination, started her own pushcart business in 2008 (currently located at SAFRA Jurong) to lead an independent life and also support products sourced from elderly and the vulnerable community.

She would also contribute what she earns to Cerebral Palsy Alliance of Singapore (CPAS) and Friends of the Disabled Society whenever she can, and rallies her friends to do likewise to support the disability community.

In 2021, Mary garnered support from her community to launch “Gift of Love” campaign to sponsor Christmas goodie bags for over 200 students from CPAS, her alma mater.

For her exemplary example in living life without limits and in making a difference in the lives of others, Singapore International Foundation also featured Mary her in an article via their digital platform, Our Better World in 2014 to inspire the wider community for the impact she has made.
