Congratulations, Singapore Silent Heroes, for reaching the milestone of 10 golden years. I recall with fondness, the privilege of launching this unique and meaningful award in 2014.

Since then, 47 ordinary individuals have been recognised and honoured for their extraordinary humanity and compassion.

Each year, the Singapore Silent Heroes Awards identified the invisible heroes in our midst who showed exceptional passion and dedication to improving humanity.

I am delighted that a new award for students has been introduced this year to commemoratethe 10th year of the Silent Heroes Award. This inspires and spurs our youth and students to be courageous and caring citizens. The SSH has now grown to include outreach to schools and nurturing young volunteers.

My heartiest congratulations to the 26 Singapore Silent Heroes Award 2023 finalists and the 19 student heroes.

A big thank you to the Civilians Association (Singapore), CAS, for supporting the growth of volunteerism and civic awareness since 1964. Besides its hallmark Silent Heroes movement, the association also actively promotes family ties and social cohesion through its youth development and sports programs.

For everyone reading this publication, I hope that these stories ignite a spark in vou and encourage vou to find meaningful ways to help others and make a positive difference to theirlives. Every action, whether big or small, can if done in the right spirit and with the right purpose, contribute to building a better tomorrow.

Each silent hero deserves our respect and commendation:

Remarkable qualities and an amazing life
They bring us hope and kindness
And a sweeter, better world For you and I
