Silent Heroes Award Winner 2019 (Outstanding Adult Category) Mr Foo Say Thye who started SN Volunteer Group in 1994 and later founded Heartwarmers in 2005, has been leading his team of passionate volunteers at Heartwarmers over the past 3 decades in numerous initiatives, including the recent Hari Raya Goodie Bag Distribution. An initiative kickstarted by 10 years ago and in its
10th year, the event saw more than 220 volunteers from Standard Chartered Bank in partnership with Heartwarmers, going around the island to give out goodie bags and green packets to over 2500 beneficiaries from low income families in need during this festive season. This event went on despite the challenges they faced as the distribution happened during circuit breaker and the volunteers kept their spirits high knowing it was for greater good.

Heartwarmers and SCB volunteers in action of packing the home essential items

Items in the goodie bag include household essentials such as below :
Noodles, Leone Coffee, Bintang Chocolate Malt, Laiky Chili Sauce, Anti Bacterial Wipes, Festive cookies, Rice, Canned lychee, Peanut butter spread, Biscuits, Tissue, Organic Oats, Salt and Sugar, Oil, Curry Paste, Coconut Cream & Canned food

“We have been doing this for more than 10 years. On 9 May, we delivered more than 2500 bags islandwide, to beneficiaries from over 30 SSAs and CCs, involving about 220 volunteers from both Heartwarmers and SCB. In times like these, the goodie bags and $150 green packets would benefit the low-income families even more. Despite the challenges and difficulties we had to overcome to make this possible, we managed to pull through the event from planning to coordination to execution. Seeing the smiles and appreciation from our beneficiaries and children, I know it is all worth it.”
